NRC CAL – NOV (White)

On September 5, 2024, the NRC issued a notice of violation associated with a white significance determination process finding to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC at Catawba Nuclear Station. The white finding, an issue of low-to-moderate safety significance, involved the licensee’s failure to maintain the functionality of the emergency ventilation system, which resulted in the inoperability of the 2A emergency diesel generator, contrary to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations , Part 50, Appendix B, Criterion III, “Design Control,” and Technical Specifications.
